About Posso Voar?
Posso Voar? ("Can I fly?") is a free panel in the style of an airplane cockpit, for drone operators to check the sky before takeoff: nearby airplanes and helicopters, other drones, aerodromes and heliports, restriction zones, rain, wind aloft, sun, GNSS satellites, space weather, radio frequencies and weather alerts. It works in the browser, on computers, tablets and phones, with no sign-up. It was made for Brazil and also works in the United States.
Who makes it
The site was created and is maintained by João Villar, a Brazilian geographer working with geoprocessing since 2004. He holds a master's degree in Geographic Information Science and Systems from NOVA IMS (Lisbon), is a specialist in rural property georeferencing and is accredited by INCRA for SIGEF certification. He works with maps and GIS, spatial analysis, routing, satellite imagery and drone mapping.

Where the data comes from
The panel shows only real data. When a source does not respond, its light turns red at the top and the instrument shows NO DATA. Simulation exists only as a separate option in CONFIG, for demos.
Air traffic
Open networks merged per aircraft: adsb.lol (ADS-B and MLAT), OpenSky Network (better coverage of takeoffs and landings at airports such as Rio's Galeão) and Open Glider Network (FLARM: gliders, ultralights and many helicopters and light aircraft). When the signal is lost, the position is estimated for up to 3 minutes and marked EST. Helicopters are recognized by category and type.
Aerodromes and heliports
Brazil: ANAC aerodrome register, plus OurAirports places and OpenStreetMap heliports not in the register. USA: OurAirports, compiled from FAA data (25,000 places). Runways and frequencies from OurAirports.
Other drones
Remote ID read over the phone Bluetooth (Chrome for Android), drones with ADS-B and an optional own feed.
Weather radar
Brazil: DECEA radars through the REDEMET API. USA: NOAA MRMS mosaic of all NEXRAD radars. Elsewhere: RainViewer. GOES-East satellite through NASA GIBS.
Alerts
Official weather alerts: INMET in Brazil and the National Weather Service (NOAA) in the USA, with each alert polygon on the map.
Wind, sun and weather
Open-Meteo forecast (NOAA GFS and HRRR models in the USA): wind at 10, 80, 120 and 180 m, gusts, rain, clouds, radiation and UV.
GNSS and space weather
CelesTrak orbits computed in the browser and the Kp index from NOAA SWPC.
METAR and radio
Observations from aviationweather.gov. Frequencies from OurAirports; live audio from YouTube channels that stream airport ATC audio.
Address
Address search uses OpenStreetMap (Nominatim and Photon), plus ViaCEP for Brazilian postal codes. The position can also come from the device GPS or typed coordinates.
Aerodromes, heliports and restriction zones
On the radars, aerodromes are magenta diamonds with the ICAO code, like on airplane navigation displays; a diamond with H is a heliport. A dashed diamond is a place outside the official register (OurAirports or OpenStreetMap): watch out, but it has no official restriction zone. Helicopters have a rotor symbol and a larger alert distance and height, because they fly low and operate near heliports.
In Brazil, the Situation Map draws the flight restriction zones (FRZ) using the model in Figures 2 to 5 of DECEA's ICA 100-40, in force since July 1, 2026, for standard, aerial survey and recreational operations:
- Aerodrome surroundings (ZEA): measured from the runway: ceiling 0 m up to 1,740 m, 30 m (100 ft) up to 2,350 m, 60 m (200 ft) up to 2,960 m and 90 m (300 ft) up to 3,570 m; beyond that, 120 m.
- Approach and takeoff (ZAD): 20° sectors on each side of the extended runway centerline, from each threshold: ceiling 0 m up to 3,550 m, 30 m up to 4,480 m, 60 m up to 5,400 m and 90 m up to 6,320 m.
- Heliport surroundings (ZEH): ceiling 0 m up to 1,130 m, 30 m up to 1,740 m, 60 m up to 2,350 m and 90 m up to 2,960 m; at IFR heliports, 1,740, 2,350, 2,960 and 3,570 m.
The zones are computed from the ANAC register position and the runway thresholds, so they are a reconstruction of the model, not the official layer. The official limit is always the one on the SARPAS NG map, which may have adjustments per aerodrome and by NOTAM.
Alarms
Just like in the cockpit: the red MASTER WARNING sounds a cockpit alarm (by default the Airbus continuous repetitive chime) and calls out the risk ("WARNING. TRAFFIC, TRAFFIC", "RESTRICTED AREA", "HIGH WIND"...), repeating until you tap the alert button to acknowledge it. In CONFIG you can change the sound (Boeing siren, fire bell, cavalry charge, overspeed clacker, chimes or beeps) and the repetition (every 5 s, continuous like in the cockpit, every 15 s or just once). The amber MASTER CAUTION plays a chime and speaks once for each new caution. In CONFIG you also choose the mode (all, warning only, caution only or silenced), the alarm volume, the voice volume and whether you want the voice; the SOUND button at the top silences everything. Sound only starts after the first tap on the page, as browsers require.
COM 1 and COM 2 radio
The radio has two channels, like the cockpit audio panel: COM 1 for the nearest tower and approach, COM 2 for the control center. Each channel tunes by itself to a live YouTube stream with the tower or control audio in your region and plays inside the panel, with RX, MUTE, volume knob, station change and automatic search (AUTO). COM 1 starts on and COM 2 starts off. Today there are regular streams in the São Paulo area (Guarulhos, Congonhas, Viracopos and Campo de Marte). You can also use the stream of your own receiver.
Install as an app
Posso Voar? can be installed on phones, tablets and computers, with no app store. On Android, use the INSTALL APP button at the top of the panel or the Chrome menu → Install app. On iPhone and iPad, open it in Safari, tap Share and Add to Home Screen. The app opens full screen and updates together with the site. On iPhone and iPad, Remote ID over Bluetooth is not available.
In the United States
When the position is in the USA, the panel switches sources and rules:
- Airports and heliports: OurAirports base compiled from FAA data, with 25,000 places, runways and frequencies. There are no ICA 100-40 zones; the Situation Map reminds you of the FAA rules (up to 400 ft AGL and LAANC authorization near Class B, C, D and E airports).
- Forecast: NOAA models (GFS and HRRR), through Open-Meteo. HRRR has no wind at 180 m, so the profile shows 10, 80 and 120 m.
- Alerts: official National Weather Service (NWS/NOAA) alerts.
- Radar: NOAA MRMS mosaic of all NEXRAD radars.
- Before flying: links to B4UFLY, the FAA NOTAM search and the FAA UAS Facility Map.
Theme and language
The panel comes with the dark theme, like cockpit displays; in CONFIG there is a light theme for bright sun, which also applies to these pages. The site is in Portuguese and English: it opens in Portuguese in Brazil and in English elsewhere, and you can switch with the EN/PT button at the top or in CONFIG.
Limits
- The panel is a situational awareness tool. It does not replace checking NOTAMs, the airspace authorization (SARPAS/DECEA in Brazil, LAANC in the USA) or the aviation authority rules (ANAC, FAA).
- Aircraft and drones that do not transmit ADS-B or Remote ID do not appear. An empty screen does not mean an empty sky.
- Radar and ADS-B coverage is partial, especially in Brazil's interior.
- Restriction zones are estimates; radio frequencies may change and must be checked in the official publications.
- GNSS accuracy (PDOP) is estimated from satellite geometry and does not replace your drone receiver's reading.
- The traffic height above ground uses the elevation at the operator's spot, not the terrain under the aircraft.
